  1. Do not stable Underground trains in full sun during off-peak periods; shelter them from the sun under suitable structures that do not suffer solar gain.

    Why not make a virtue out of a necessity, and pave the top of these structures with solar panels, return the generated electricity to power the trains?

  2. Some LU depots already have walls to separate roads for frost protection, eg Hainault, and could perhaps be suitably roofed. The future is seen by TfL as removing roofed structures, eg Northfields!
