ROMIS Mobile Maintenance System for track: overview (RailwayNews)

The ROBEL ROMIS Mobile Maintenance System 69.70 is a self-sufficient track maintenance “workshop on wheels” which reduces the outlay in logistics and labour. Its unique design allows access to the track and allows quality maintenance in the most difficult track areas.

Network Rail have bought eight Mobile Maintenance Trains from Robel which are designed to give a safe working environment for on-track staff. The Mobile Maintenance Train, known as the Romis System, consists of three vehicles, the Mobile Maintenance Unit is an open bottomed vehicle. It has adjustable walls for protection from the elements, passing trains and glare at night and a number of tools for working on the track such as rail welders, cutters and grinders.
