Norwegian railway operator Vy (former NSB) will integrate its train connections with taxis across the country. Many taxi services will be available in the Vy mobile application from 1 July 2020. Recently, the company’s app has been extended with an option for buying the bus tickets.
After integration of train links and taxis, Vy will offer a better door-to-door service to its passengers, especially in terms of the first and last mile. The company’s customers often use taxis for getting to or from a railway station. In the mid-2020, they will get a convenient opportunity to order and pay for a taxi and a train ticket using only one application. The passengers will be able to trace the geographical location of a car and compare prices offered by different companies.
Vy is working together with Internet Trafikk Formidling (ITF) on integrating the train and taxi services. ITF is a leading supplier of taxi systems in Norway, it covers most major cities in the country. This company is wholly owned by Taxus Norge, the largest taxi association in Norway. The parties concluded a cooperation agreement in June of this year. It is worth to note that by 2022 all taxis in Oslo will be electric.
Last week Vy has included the bus service provided by Vy Buss (former Nettbuss) into its mobile application. Vy Buss is a subsidiary of the railway company that operates a network of express bus routes in Norway and Sweden. Before this change, the passengers should buy the bus and train tickets offered by Vy separately. This opportunity is also available at the Vy official website. “We look forward to offering our customers everything in one place,” said Synne Homble, Executive Vice President for Mobility and Tourism at Vy.
