Amsterdam wants tram collision warning system (Metro-Report)

Amsterdam city transport operator GVB has called tenders for the supply of a collision warning system for its fleet of 155 Siemens Combino trams, saying this would assist tram drivers, help improve road safety in the increasingly busy city and reduce damage to its vehicles.

GVB envisages that cameras or radar systems on the front of a vehicle would provide an audio and visual warning if there were a risk of a collision with another road user or an object on the line.
