I was travelling though Liège-Guillemins Railway Station often whilst they were doing it up and the station remained open the whole time. I rather thought they were somehow doing the same thing to Reading station. but somehow it’s just not quite the same.
Toledo Metro Station is a total shock of a station, it’s like the dream of Picasso that even makes the Liz Line stations seem … ordinary.
When scanning the article on beautiful stations I was getting a bit mifed that they were all grandiose city-centre ones, and was thinking that Wemyss Bay should be here – then it was.
Would be great to see the Toledo roof replace the damp squib that was never going to be seen in the best light at Padd.
Re the TransPennine item

Not a very encouraging prospect then, if things have been as bad as reported.
Not sure how Italians would feel about ArchDigest describing them as a “small European country” – perhaps the authors are confused and think Naples is a micro-state or something?
