  1. Google flights already shows the eurostar trains as options. I assume adding other high-speed lines would be relatively simple.. I mean google maps already has the data.

  2. I think that even the instigators of the modular stations on the Styal line would be surprised to see that now they are being hailed as masterpieces (my slight exaggeration). I suppose the fact that they remain fit for purpose, structually sound, easy to clean and presumably leak-free is enough. Contrast with Oxford Road, hailed by Pevsner as an architectural masterpice. Quote from Wikipedia: “Despite its architectural acclaim, the structure began to deteriorate within ten years. The roof started to leak and for years the station’s platform buildings were encased in scaffolding and other metalwork, partly to support the structure and prevent material falling on the platforms and passengers.”

The article may be attempting to give an overview of modular building systems, not necessarily limited to those that were considered successful in practice – the D70 section begins by noting that BR, having built more than thirty CLASP buildings, found them less than satisfactory. The CLASP buildings at East Grinstead and Hassocks were life-expired after 40 or so years and replaced by Modular buildings. That’s less than half the lifespan of their 1881-2 T. H. Myres predecessors.
