  1. The regeneration of Kilmarnock station is a remarkable project, but to say it “kicks off” regeneration of disused station buildings in Scotland is wide of the mark. There have been many successful projects, mostly involving local communities through station adoption schemes, though Kilmarnock is unique in its scale. Examples include second hand bookshops at Pitlochry and Wemyss Bay, a welfare facility for ex-servicemen at Dumbarton Central, a men’s shed at Nairn, a community centre at North Queensferry, a local museum at Glenfinnan, a model railway club at Fort Matilda, a local heritage centre at Maxwell Park and several stations in Fife taken over by artists. Much of this is down to one person at ScotRail – John Yellowlees – who has energetically fostered station adoption schemes for many years.

  2. I love the new layout, but isn’t it time to retire the “SPONSOR US” link for the long-lost magazine that the last issue people paid for didn’t get done? I personally don’t care about that and was happy to just help out LR, but others might get the wrong idea.

Brian, glad you like the new LR layout, we really like it too.

We are in preproduction to restart the print magazine, with the first new issue in early 2022. Subscriptions will pick up where they left off.
