We Now Have An Events Section

Just a short post to announce something that the eagle-eyed amongst you have likely already spotted – we now have an “Events” section on the menu.

The goal with this is to start to build up a useful directory of interesting talks, enthusiast events (such as museum open days or model fares) and trade shows that might be relevant to LR readers. Both paid and free events are welcome to be listed, and obviously there’s no charge to appear in the events calendar.

So if you’ve got an event – or indeed just know of – an event that you think we should list then please do tell us about it here. Once we start to build up a bit of a library, we can then look at making the event listings a bit more prominent on the home page and elsewhere. Similarly, if you spot a bug, do let me know in the comments and I’ll see what I can do to fix it.

  1. No events listed in May yet – I populated April as an example. I’m going to look for some interesting May events tonight to add.

  2. Some events may sell out more than a month in advance… I see that Geoff Marshall is giving a talk in the London Transport museum in August about his attempts to break the record for visiting all tube stations in one day and I think his previous talks on this subject have sold out fairly quickly.

  3. Went to a lovely meeting with the TfL Open Data people at the AWS “Loft” last night. Very interesting, I have to say. I’ll notify you of the next one.

  4. Also I think there are some tickets for Hidden London from the LT Museum shop

Hidden London: Clapham South Deep Level Shelter – Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 14 July – 21 July 2016 and 2 March – 26 March 2017

Hidden London: Down Street – Tea and Tour Combined Ticket
2016: Wednesday 10 August, Thursday 18 August, Friday 25 August, Wednesday 30 November, Thursday 8 December, Friday 16 December, Wednesday 25 January, 2017: Thursday 2 February, Friday 10 February 2017

    Hidden London: Down Street Station Dates: Wednesdays, Thursday, Friday, Saturdays and Sundays 4 August – 11 September 2016, 24 November – 18 November 2016 & 11 January – 5 March 2017

The Euston one has sold out.

  5. “model fares” should be fairs, I think (unless the models are large enough to travel on).

  6. “model fares”
Special rates for people like Jodie Kidd, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss – perhaps because their svelte figures mean they take up less space than most?

  7. One event date, not as yet updated on the home page, is that our next pub meet-up upstairs at the Blue Posts is this coming Thursday, 12th May. I hope that you can make it for a chat, accompanied by liquid and solid sustenance as your desire invites.
